The behavior problems ranges from basic annoyance to full problem which cannot be tolerate by the owner. A minor behavior problem can also lead to a real problem. When the dog start to create major problems, there is no other way but ask the help of a professional trainer. To correct the bad behavior problems, obedience training is necessary.
Initially you have to consider the minor behavior problems that the major character traits. The minor problems such as the dog which barks all the day, howls at the moon or scratches constantly should be taken care of. Some of the other minor behavior problems are jumping up on visitors, barking at one specific person and biting or chewing of their own skin.
The extreme nature of behavior problems are biting or snapping. Some times the dog may bite other animals or family members. Snapping is also a major problem not because it bites a person but it can lead to a certain type of behavior. Snapping can cause damage to that particular individual as this can break the skin of the person, if the dog goes too close or traumatizes that individual such that he would not like to be near the person.
If the bad behavior is left unchecked, it can cause stress to the owner. To avoid behavioral problems, train the dog when it is a puppy. You can correct the bad behaviors such as barking, jumping and aggressive behavior of a dog at any age. The dog can be trained at all ages and hence you can provide behavior training even to an adult dog.
You should not let the bad habit of a dog go unchecked and you must warn the dog to let it know that it is doing the wrong thing. Never shout or hit the dog during the training period, it may take time to realize that it is doing the wrong and eventually it has to stop. You have to warn the dog immediately after it does something wrong or else it will lead to confusion. Never punish a dog by locking the dog in a room as it won't understand what it is being punished for and will get more confused. Confusion also leads to bad behavior as it cannot make out or remember what is wrong or what is right.
Praising a dog is also necessary when it does something good just like you warn for wrong behavior. Every dog is different, find out what your dog likes to have from you, a treat or being stroked. Pat the dog or provide him with delicacies, if he behaves in a good manner or according to your expectations.
Keep in the mind that dogs were wild animals. So never expect a good behavior always from them. It is important to provide obedience training properly to the dog. If you won't give a proper training, you will be always in constant stress and anger instead of the fun and love receives from your dog.
